Heart Health
“When you have heart disease, you start to be tired of everything. It’s like getting older. You become more white, after that, gray. You have no feeling for anything.”
– Gerard Depardieu, Actor
Do your part, care for your heart
With heart disease, you risk losing everything you love about life before you finally lose your life. With all the advances in cardiac medicine, heart disease remains the leading cause of death for men and women in the United States. Heart attacks cause one in four deaths. Every year, three-quarters of a million Americans experience the excruciating pain, breathlessness and sudden weakness that accompany heart attacks.
Wilt Chamberlain was among America’s all-time greatest athletes. Before joining the National Basketball Association, Chamberlain was a track star at the University of Kansas. When his basketball career ended, Wilt tried his hand at acting. Training for his co-starring role in Conan the Barbarian, Wilt Chamberlain bench pressed more than his co-star, a fellow by the name of Arnold Schwarzenegger, the greatest bodybuilder of all time. Chamberlain died of a heart attack the age of 53. “When Wilt Chamberlain died, strongest man I ever met in my life, I started paying attention.” said John Salley, another NBA great.
